Matt Ryan’s Constantine Heading to ‘Legends of Tomorrow’
We asked for more Constantine and The CW has delivered once again!
Speaking with Rotten Tomatoes, Legends of Tomorrow‘s EP Phil Klemmer revealed that Matt Ryan will indeed appear in the series’ third season and that he will be performing an exorcism. “We get Billy Zane and the circus [in the second episode]; we get a little Julius Caesar (Simon Merrells) on the beach in Aruba in the premiere. We meet [new team member] Zari (Tala Ashe) in this sort of dystopian future. We get to do a little Amblin alien episode back in the 80s; we do some Jack the Ripper Victorian London; Golden Age of Hollywood; John Constantine doing an exorcism. We do a ‘Freaky Friday’ episode. The only thing we haven’t been able to do: We really wanted to do an Abba ‘Waterloo’ in then Napoleonic wars but we could not get the rights for the song.”
Before entering the CW DC universe, Ryan played Constantine for 13 episodes in the titular series on NBC until it was canceled by the network. He was last seen in the fourth season of Arrow helping to restore Sara Lance’s soul before voicing Constantine in the DC animated film Justice League Dark. He will once again voice the character in The CW Seed’s Constantine, airing in early 2018.
