Meet the ‘Sabrina’ Reboot’s New Aunt Zelda!
You cant have Aunt Hilda without her sister and partner in crime, Zelda! Just days after the announcement of Wonder Woman’s Lucy Davis as zany Aunt Hilda, Netflix revealed that Homeland and Lord of the Rings alum Miranda Otto had been cast as Zelda Spellman.
Fans of the original Sabrina the Teenage Witch series know that Zelda is certainly the more strict of Sabrina’s aunts. “Proud and devout, Zelda believes there is no greater honor than serving the Dark Lord as a member of the Church of Night. She is the family’s disciplinarian, fiercely protective of Sabrina, and very much Cain to Hilda’s Abel,” her character description says.
Otto will be taking over Aunt Zelda duties from Beth Broderick, who played the character on the Melissa Joan Hart series for 141 episodes.
The Netflix reboot is based on and named after the Archie comic The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and follows half-witch half-human Sabrina (Mad Men’s Kiernan Shipka) as she struggles to stand against the evil forces that threaten her, her family and the daylight world humans inhabit. It was created by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and will be produced by Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. TV.
