Michael Rooker to Appear on This Sunday’s ‘Talking Dead’
On this past week’s episode of The Walking Dead, while speaking to Daryl about getting along with Saviors and moving on from the past, Rick brought up how Daryl decided to not kill him after he left Merle on a rooftop to die. How that moment of forgiveness changed their lives forever. It was a touching callback and one that seems to have been very timely as Michael Rooker, who played Merle Dixon on the series, is set to take the Talking Dead couch this Sunday alongside showrunner, Angela Kang. This marks Rooker’s sixth appearance on the popular aftershow.
“Let people see it and maybe everyone moves past what’s happened to what could happen and maybe, just maybe, it’d be one of the best decisions you ever made … like not killing a guy who left your brother on a rooftop to die.” #TheWalkingDead #TWDFamily pic.twitter.com/YAGXzgGiMf

Seeing that these next two Sundays mark Rick Grimes/Andrew Lincoln’s final episodes, it seems fitting to have a popular character from his past taking the couch. Plus, with Daryl beginning to step up and actually speak, having his TV brother there to provide some commentary with Kang will be a fun watch. While it has been revealed that Sonequa Martin-Green, Jon Bernthal and the late Scott Wilson would all be making surprise appearances in season 9, there hasn’t been any word about a return for Rooker. Of course, his guest spot on Talking Dead could be hinting at just that. What do you think?

The episode Rooker and Kang will be dissecting with Chris Hardwick is called “The Obliged” and according to its synopsis, the episode finds “Rick’s vision of a civilized future is threatened by a sudden reckoning with past sins that remain unavenged and unforgiven.” You can watch the action-packed promo for the episode below!
Talking Dead will air immediately after Sunday’s episode of The Walking Dead, which airs at 9/8c on AMC!
Having studied Media & Writing at James Madison University, I always knew that I wanted to do some type of creative writing, but being able to write about zombies, Starks, and superheroes on a daily basis for Fan Fest is my actual dream. While I probably shouldn’t be as proud as I am to be so similar to Nick Miller, I do hope to one day write my own “Pepperwood Chronicles’.
