Milla Jovovich in Final Talks to Play Blood Queen in ‘Hellboy’ Reboot
Casting for the new Hellboy reboot is starting to really come together. In May of this year, it was announced that film creator Mike Mignola had a planned reboot of the film franchise in the works. Upon announcing his plans to remake the Hellboy franchise, Mignola also announced that Stranger Things actor David Harbour would be the title character role. Since then Ian McShane has also joined the cast and will be playing the role of Professor Broom.
On Tuesday, Deadline reported the that Milla Jovovich is said to be in final contract talks to join the film reboot. Jovovich would play the role of Blood Queen! Jovovich is an icon in the sci-f film genre thanks to her starring roles in The Fifth Element, the Resident Evil franchise, and Ultraviolet. We can totally see her crushing this role and, being that she typically plays the heroine in films, it should be really cool to see her take on a different type of character. We can’t wait!
Originally created in 1993, the Hellboy comic series centers around a demon summoned by the Nazis during World War II from a portal to a paranormal dimension. Years later, the demon is all grown up and is serving as an agent to protect America from dark and evil forces. The first film in the franchise was released in 2004 and starred Ron Perlman, Selma Blair and Doug Jones. A sequel to the film was released in 2008. Though there was discussion regarding the possibility of a 3rd installment, the film was never materialized.
