Milo Ventimiglia talks ‘Gilmore Girls’ Revival, Team Jess, and the Final Four Words

We had the pleasure of sitting down with Gilmore Girls star Milo Ventimiglia at Fan Fest Atlanta this past weekend. We chatted about Netflix’s revival of the series which premieres this coming Friday. From his reaction to the highly anticipated final four words of the series to his thoughts on the infamous fan debate of Team Jess/Team Logan/Team Dean, Milo had nothing but good things to say about his experience with the series as well as with the fans.

Emma: What were your thoughts when you learned what Amy Sherman- Palladino had planned for those famous final four words of the series? Did they surprise you?

Milo: Years ago, I asked her. I said, ‘Amy, what were these famed four words?’

This was before it became something that was talked about. She told me, so I knew. She didn’t swear me to secrecy, or anything like that. It was just kind of like, ‘oh, okay.’

So I think it’s going to be an exciting moment for fans to discover. It’s like you know that piece of gold is in that rock, you just have to crack it open. You know that diamond is in that little lump of coal you just have to crack it open. I think watching the show, you’re going to find that moment where you understand the closing of the story. I think it’s beautiful and exciting.

Emma: Where is Jess now? Did his story surprise you?

Milo: I thought when Jess finished his stint in Stars Hollow, I thought that who he was at the time, he had grown up, he’d learned a lot of lessons. He still had his heart, but he kind of tamed down this idea that his intellect… pushing the limits at the expense of someone else. So when it came back and Amy [Sherman-Palladino] told me what she and Dan [Palladino] were looking to do, I thought it was a great to bring Jess back into the world of Gilmore Girls and instigate some people in certain ways to get moving on the paths of their lives.

Are you excited for the return of Gilmore Girls this coming Friday? Let us know what you hope to see on Netflix’s revival of one of our favorite series!
