Last month at WonderCon, it was announced that Star War legend Mark Hamill would be voicing the role of the demonic doll. While Hamill is best known for his on-screen work at Luke Skywalker in the films, he is also well-known for voicing the role of the Joker in Batman: The Animated Series.

In addition to Hamill, the cast includes Aubrey Plaza (Legion, Parks and Recreation), Brian Tyree Henry (Atlanta, If Beale Street Could Talk), and Gabriel Bateman (Lights Out, American Gothic). Much like the original franchise, the reimagined Child’s Play will follow Karen (Plaza), a mother who gives her son Andy (Bateman) a toy doll for his birthday, unaware of its more sinister nature.

New and rising filmmaker Lars Klevberg (Polaroid) is on board to direct with a screenplay was written by Tyler Burton Smith (Kung Fury) based on the original film. David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith will produce under their KatzSmith Productions banner.
