Nick Fury and Maria Hill Will Be in ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’

Well, it looks like we can now add two more characters to the list of Marvel heroes who make it out of Avengers 4. In the post-credit scene of Infinity War, Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) fell victim to Thanos’ snap, but it has officially been confirmed that Jackson and Smulders will be in Spider-Man: Far From Home,  which is set to take place just minutes after Avengers 4 ends. They join Spider-Man (and presumably the Guardians) as the only characters we definitely know will somehow make it out alive.

It’s unsure as of yet just what roles the S.H.I.E.L.D agents will be playing, but perhaps after the events of both Infinity War and Avengers 4, Peter Parker will begin working the two and they will play a part in his globe-trotting adventure. Fans began catching onto the Marvel duo appearing in Far From Home when Jackson shared some of Fury’s character props on Instagram and tagged the photo in England where the Spidey film is currently filming.

Then the film announced that they had cast Homeland’s Numan Acar in an unknown role for the sequel and he shared the news on Instagram with some spoilery hashtags including Nick Fury, Maria Hill, and the still rumored Jake Gyllenhaal.

Jackson will also be reprising his role as Nick Fury in the upcoming Captain Marvel film starring Brie Larson. Since the film takes place in the 1990’s, Jackson will be digitally de-aged (much like Ant-Man’s Michael Douglas) for the film. He was last seen trying to page Captain Marvel when humanity began to fall apart in the closing moments of Infinity War.

Thanks to social media and Kevin Feige we’ve been able to piece together some tidbits about what to expect from Far From Home. We know that Peter and friends will be traveling to London for a decathlon and that Jake Gyllenhaal is still rumored to be playing popular villain Mysterio. J.B. Smoove and Numan Acar have also joined the cast in mystery roles. We recently got a look at the films official logo as well.

Spider-Man: Far From Home will of course star Tom Holland as Peter Parker, in addition to Zendaya,  Jacob Batalon, Michael Bolton, and Marisa Tomei who will all be reprising their Homecoming roles.

The film is swinging into theaters on July 5, 2019.
