Nick Offerman Joins Amazon’s ‘Good Omens’ Alongside Jon Hamm and Michael Sheen
Good news Parks and Recreation fans, Nick Offerman is heading back to your TVs soon. Amazon just announced that Offerman will be joining the cast of their upcoming limited series Good Omens, based Neil Gaiman’s and Terry Pratchett’s novel of the same name.
The six-part television series “takes place in 2018 when the Apocalypse is near and Final Judgment is set to descend upon humanity.” It follows an angel named Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) and a demon named Crowley (David Tennant) who have lived quite pleasantly amongst the people of Earth and aren’t exactly thrilled about the impending apocalypse and the Final Judgement. Offerman will be “playing the father of Warlock Dowling, a child who is mistakenly believed to be the Antichrist.”
“If you had told me when I first read Good Omens in the early ’90s that I would one day visit South Africa to giggle with Neil Gaiman at laptop-screened footage of Dr. Who and David Frost dancing because I was assaying a role in the adaptation of said book, I would likely have offered to purchase some of whatever you must be smoking. But here I am, still giggling at the luck of it,” Offerman said.
Author and series creator Neil Gaiman announced the news on Twitter:
Seen here testing local drums for a 2 year old for volume+suitability (none of them were loud enough): our Secret Guest Star. “There may not be anyone alive who can deadpan a line quite as well as Nick Offerman. He’s a terrific performer, and has to say a lot of things in Good Omens that are humanly impossible to deliver with a straight face. Fortunately, Nick is not entirely human,” Gaiman said in a statement.
In addition to Sheen and Tennant, Offerman joins Jon Hamm, Mirelle Enos, Yusuf Gatewood, and Adria Arjona. The series is currently set for a 2019 premiere.
Having studied Media & Writing at James Madison University, I always knew that I wanted to do some type of creative writing, but being able to write about zombies, Starks, and superheroes on a daily basis for Fan Fest is my actual dream. While I probably shouldn’t be as proud as I am to be so similar to Nick Miller, I do hope to one day write my own “Pepperwood Chronicles’.
