Nicolas Winding Refn wants to make a ‘Batgirl’ Movie
Nicolas Winding Refn, best known for his 2011 film Drive, told Business Insider that he would have loved to have made Wonder Woman, but that Batgirl is another cool opportunity.
Refn, one of the most in-demand filmmakers in Hollywood, would be the perfect fit to put forth what could be an amazing film.
“God, I would love to make one, it would probably be great fun,” Refn said. “I just don’t know when it’s going to happen. I very much enjoy my freedom creatively, but I also would love to make one of those big Hollywood films that costs a lot of money and has a lot of people running around with cell phones and all that insanity.”
“What ones are left?” Refn added. “You know the one I want to do? I want to make Batgirl. Let’s get Warner working on it.”
Yvonne Craig, Alicia Silverstone and Danielle Judovits have all previously played the masked in hero in past films. If this movie were to happen down the line, I wonder who would be the candidates to play the part?
Batgirl will reportedly be featured in the standalone Harley Quinn movie to be made after the release of “Suicide Squad,” with Margot Robbie reprising the Quinn role.
