For those unfamiliar, Octopath Traveler is a unique RPG widely influenced by the 16-bit era, with beautiful sprite graphics intermixed with a 2D & 3D world. The story, which has no less than eight playable characters each with their own arc, allows gamers to choose where to start the game, who to meet along the way, and who to ignore all together.

Octopath Traveler has a wonderfully constructed narrative, with each of the eight unique characters having their own goals and motivations – some as simple as a journey for self-discovery, while others are out for revenge – and allows the player to choose how in depth they want to get on their playthrough. It’s entirely possible to meet all eight characters and complete their stories, but it is just as possible to only meet four and save the other four for another playthrough. Or to run through the game alone – although the odds of survival are slim if you go that route.

At most, you can have four players in your party at any given time, although some characters are able to convince townspeople to fight alongside you for a limited time as well. You can switch your party out at any time, which comes in handy as every character has a unique trait which can be used in each town. The only permanent addition to your party is the character you start the game with – so choose wisely!

Octopath Traveler, released by Square-Enix, will hit the PC (Steam) on June 7th, 2019. The game is rated T for Teen and features English and Japanese audio along with English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Japanese, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese text.
