He is menacing, serial obsessed and once fiercely interrogated a young Bright and left a lasting, haunting impression. He also holds a bitterness towards Gil (Lou Diamond Phillips) for being the one to take down The Surgeon.

Prodigal Son was also recently picked up for a full season order, bringing the total number of episodes in its first season to twenty-two.

This was the first full-season pickup announcement of the fall 2019 season, and it is well deserved. The series premiere was the highest-rated new series on any network delivering 8.5 million multi-platform viewers and more than 10 million viewers, including Friday’s encore airing.

Prodigal Son delivers a fantastic crime procedural with a complicated and compelling father-son relationship at its core, thanks to the stellar performances from Tom Payne and Michael Sheen,” said Michael Thorn, president of entertainment at Fox Entertainment, in a statement. “The series has razor-sharp writing, cinematic visuals and is an inventive twist on the genre. We want to thank our executive producers, Greg, Sarah, Chris and Sam, Peter Roth and our partners at Warner Bros., and the entire cast and crew. We can’t wait to see how this twisted journey continues to unfold.”

Pertwee’s Detective Owen Shannon will appear in the midseason finale.
