Project Scorpio, Xbox’s ‘Most Powerful Console Ever’

Project Scorpio by Microsoft is the new, revamped Xbox One console that is slated to be released later this year. It has been described as the “most powerful console ever” by developers.

The Xbox Scorpio will be capable of producing 4k visuals and 4 times the graphical power than their current Xbox One. This will allow for higher resolution for better game play. It will also provide players with 6 teraflops of power. What is a teraflop you say? Well, it is a measure of graphical potential, which depends a great deal upon the console’s GPU or graphic processing unit. The Scorpio’s GPU is 4.5 times greater than the Xbox One. It is also be able to increase compute power with 8 CPU cores making it possible to upscale 1080p to 4K .

The Scorpio will no longer have ESRAM, which worked with DDR3 to process data. Instead, it will feature GDDR5 memory with 320 GBs of memory bandwidth. Players will be able to use their existing Xbox One, Xbox One Slim and their accessories with the Scorpio.

The cost that gamers would have to pay is yet to be determined. When the Xbox One was first released, it went for $500. So I assume it will be around that price point. So start saving up! Have a yard sale. Turn in all those recyclables that have been piling up in the back yard. Make sure to ask for that raise or work some overtime because the Xbox Scorpio will be coming your way for the 2017 holiday season!!!
