‘Riverdale’ recap “Ch. 64: The Ice Storm”

It’s Thanksgiving in Riverdale, usually a time for thanks, now the town is prepping for an ice storm.

Archie and Monroe are planning a free Thanksgiving dinner for the community center. The mayor (no surprise, it’s Hiram) is trying to shut them down. Archie won’t let Hiram get in his way. Dodger’s family, maybe. Archie finds himself on his knees with a gun pointed at him. Luckily, the turkey fryer blows causing a distraction. Dodger’s family leaves and Dodger turns up missing from the hospital.

Jughead is on break from school and Betty comes up to visit. He’s on a deadline and needs help sleuthing. Why the hell is Donna and Brett in creepy bunny masks and why does Brett have Chipping’s suicide note? It turns out that Donna was having an affair with Chipping.

Cheryl is delighted the storm is coming because then she and Toni can dispose of Uncle Bedford. Too bad Aunt Cricket is staking them out. At dinner, Nana Rose tells that story of the first Blossom Thanksgiving, a tale of cannibalism. OMG CHERYL BAKED UNCLE BEDFORD! Just kidding, it was lamb. At least now no one will be after the Blossom Maple empire.

Can we talk about Veronica ruining her family’s dinner? That was amazing! What’s not amazing, the fact that neither I nor Betty fully believes that Donna had an affair with CHipping. Something weird is going on there. The case is so not closed, Brett. Besides, who videotapes his roommate and his girlfriend? Also, Dodger’s mom is right about Archie’s hero complex and FP’s right that Hiram deserves to die.

On a more positive note, I loved all of the Fred Andrews, including the dedication at the end.
