Ross Marquand, Avi Nash and Katelyn Nacon Talk Losing Limbs at Walker Stalker Atlanta

Walker Stalker Atlanta is in full swing this weekend at the Georgia World Congress Center for the biggest Walking Dead fan meetup all year!

Today is day three, and next up is a panel with Alexandrians The Walking Dead Ross Marquand, Avi Nash and Katelyn Nacon who play Aaron, Siddiq and Enid.

The group was asked about their first musical CD purchase, and for Katelyn it was Hannah Montana. For Avi, he used to burn CDs, and Ross says his was Led Zeppelin.

Early in the panel, a fan asked if Katelyn would ever actually perform an amputation now that she’s learned how.

Technically, I probably could. I was taught the correct way to do it. Would it go great? Maybe not. I really don’t know how to tie off arteries. I guess I could blow torch. I think that’s what i did to your arm.

They shared a few stories about Andrew Lincoln, Avi Nash sharing that he came over to him and had lunch.” The man is a legend.” He said.

Ross added,

I watched the show from the very beginning, and Andy is the show to me. Rick is the show. He came up to me and gave me a great big hug and said welcome to the family. He’s made everyone feel like that since I arrived on the show.

As far as the way he goes out, Ross implies that it’s beautiful.

When they were asked how their characters have evolved over time, Ross explained how Aaron has gotten to where he is now.

I think he always was a very diplomatic, nice guy who cared about protecting the community and Alexandria in the first place. As time has gone on, things have happened, terrible skirmishes with other communities and I think losing Eric shook him to his core. He’s still pragmatic, but he’s not as nice as he used to be. He’s a little bit darker. Hopefully he continues to be darker and darker.

Nash adds that guilt has changed Siddiq over time,

The way in which guilt caused Siddiq to behave is different now in season 8 because it’s a year and a half later, and he’s now part of the Grimes family. Guilt turned into a sense of responsibility and togetherness and to make the world a place where his friend wanted the world to be.

Ross talks about the weirdest thing he’s done on set, which was getting his arm cut off.

Katelyn applied a good amount of pressure and Norman tied the belt so intensely that it was cutting off circulation and hurt like hell. Just going through that, in a split second losing a limb.

Finally they were asked if they agreed with the decision to keep Negan alive,

Katelyn thinks Enid agrees with the decision.

I don’t think she wants anyone dead because too many people die in the first place even for the things he’s done. I think she’d much rather see him rot in a cell and see him die on the inside.

Avi on the other hand, thinks that if Siddiq knew what was happening he would have preferred Rick kill him.

I think yes I would want to slice his throat open in the middle of a field. Siddiq did save him as a courtesy and loyalty to Rick. He also had no idea of what was going on with the war. He was found in the woods and Carl gave him clean water and the next thing he knew he was fighting in a war. Says Avi.

Ross says that Aaron is on Maggie’s side, and would definitely want him dead.
