Ross Marquand makes ‘impression’ on panel at Walker Stalker Con Atlanta

Fans were treated to more than one of Ross Marquand’s celebrity impressions at the Alexandrians panel at Walker Stalker Con Atlanta.

The Alexandrians panel included Ross Marquand who plays Aaron, Seth Gilliam (Father Gabriel Stokes) and Michael Cudlitz (Abraham Ford). The three actors shared a great rapport and lots of laughs on stage. The entertaining and informative Q&A was moderated by podcasters and The Walking Dead enthusiasts Elizabeth Russell and Diana Driscoll.

Barbershop Talk

One fan asked the actors what their characters would say given an opportunity to talk to Alpha. The attendee also requested that Ross give his answer using the voice of Rocky Balboa. Ross jumped right into an uncanny impression of Rocky asking Alpha who her barber is. The impression continued with questions for Alpha about how she maintains her signature bald scalp.

And . . . Action!

Another convention attendee asked Michael Cudlitz about his time directing on The Walking Dead. The same fan also wanted to know if Ross and Seth would be interested in spending time behind the camera like Michael. We learned that in addition to directing episodes on The Walking Dead, Mr. Cudlitz has also directed on the newest series in The Walking Dead franchise slated for the spring of 2020,

Cudlitz spoke fondly of his time in the director’s chair noting the great reception from his old cast mates to him being in that role. Michael shared that his experience as an actor on the show helps inform his direction. He is already very familiar with the “nuances” that exist among many of the characters.

Ross Marquand confirmed that he would indeed like to direct some day and that he would use Michael as a model for that role. The Aaron actor boasted that Michael “comes in so prepared” as a director. He also commented that Cudlitz communicates with actors via calls and emails in preparation for their scenes. Ross praised Michael’s good stewardship of the cast and crew’s time on set.

Just Keep ‘Walken’

Seth Gilliam simply replied “no” in response to the inquiry about whether or not he, too, would like to direct. This was not the first brief but comedic response from Gilliam on the panel. Ross Marquand chimed in that it felt like Seth was “channeling Christopher Walken” during the Q&A. Marquand then slipped into yet another impression speaking like Walken. Cudlitz wrapped up the panel with the perfectly timed phrase “more cowbell” in a nod to the popular Saturday Night Live skit with Christopher Walken.

I always enjoy Ross Marquand’s impressions and was a fan of his impersonation work on Impress Me before joining The Walking Dead. It is always fun when he surprises fans with an impression or when he so generously provides one upon request. Ross, Seth and Michael all three contributed to this fun Walker Stalker Con Atlanta panel.
