‘Roswell’ Reboot Casts ‘The Vampire Diaries’ Alum Michael Trevino
Fresh off the news that The Originals star Joseph Morgan had booked a new pilot for Fox, it looks like another CW supernatural alum will be joining pilot season. The Vampire Diaries star Michael Trevino, who played werewolf hybrid Tyler Lockwood for 144 episodes, has booked a role on The CW’s upcoming Roswell reboot, reuniting him with TVD boss Julie Plec, who will be directing the pilot alongside writer Carina MacKenzie.
Trevino will be playing Kyle Valenti, “the popular son of the town sheriff who questions his carefree outlook on life after learning the terrifying truth of his family’s legacy” in the reimagined reboot that will feature an immigration twist. The series will follow a biomedical researcher and the daughter of undocumented immigrants as she returns to her hometown and discovers a shocking truth about her high school crush – he’s an alien. As the two begin to reconnect and investigate his mysterious origins, they will face multiple obstacles including violent attacks, government cover-ups, and the politics of fear and hatred.
The pilot is also set to star Jeanine Mason, Nathan Parsons, Lily Cowles, Michael Vlamis, Tyler Blackburn and Heather Hemmens. The original 1999 Roswell series was created by Friday Night Lights and Parenthood’s Jason Katmis, and aired for three seasons on the WB/UPN, starring Shiri Appleby, Jason Behr, Katherine Heigl, William Sadler, and Colin Hanks.
Having studied Media & Writing at James Madison University, I always knew that I wanted to do some type of creative writing, but being able to write about zombies, Starks, and superheroes on a daily basis for Fan Fest is my actual dream. While I probably shouldn’t be as proud as I am to be so similar to Nick Miller, I do hope to one day write my own “Pepperwood Chronicles’.
