Rotten Tomatoes will Delay Score for ‘Justice League’ until Opening Day

If you are awaiting to see the critical consensus when it comes to DC’s Justice League movie, you’re going to have to wait until opening day to find out.

Warner Bros. is embargoing critic reviews until 2:50 a.m. Wednesday morning, leaving just one full day between reviews going live and the film opening Thursday evening. This will be extremely interesting, given that studios typically lift review embargoes a week before their film opens.

In addition to Warner Bros., Rotten Tomatoes is also planning delaying its reveal of the critic score until 12:01 a.m. on Thursday. The reason, the site says, is because they want to make an event of unveiling the score on their new “See It/Skip It” show on Facebook.

Perhaps this will come as some benefit to the film, as DC films have not had critical success (pun intended) with the film critics. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice received a 27 percent rating last year, and Suicide Squad fared even worse with a 26 percent rating. These ratings led to Batman v Superman producer Brett Ratner to declare that Rotten Tomatoes represented “the destruction of our business” in an interview with EW.

However, things turned around for the DC film universe when Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman scored a 92 percent rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. Talk about an amazing comeback, it looks like DC is headed on the right path. Also, it will be particularly interesting to see what Joss Whedon will be bringing to the stage. He’s done some incredible work in the Marvel universe, so we are highly looking forward to seeing what he will bring to DC.

Justice League, starring Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Henry Cavill, Jason Mamoa and Ray Fisher will arrive in theaters on November 17th, 2017.
