SDCC 2019: HBO’s ‘His Dark Materials’ Drops First Full Trailer

A brand-new trailer dropped today for the upcoming HBO series His Dark Materials. The show dropped the exciting new footage during its San Diego Comic-Con panel on Thursday.

The synopsis for the show is below and reads as follows:

[row]”An adaptation of Philip Pullman’s acclaimed trilogy HIS DARK MATERIALS is considered a modern masterpiece of imaginative fiction. The first series follows Lyra, a seemingly ordinary but brave young woman from another world. Lyra’s search for a kidnapped friend uncovers a sinister plot involving stolen children and becomes a quest to understand a mysterious phenomenon called Dust. As she journeys through the worlds, including our own, Lyra meets a determined and courageous boy called Will. Together they encounter extraordinary beings and dangerous secrets, with the fate of both the living — and the dead — in their hands.”[/row]

HBO is co-producing along with BBC. The show will be an 8-episode drama series and is currently set up for 2 seasons. The series is based on Philip Pullman’s acclaimed trilogy of books: Northern Lights, The Subtle Knife, and The Amber Spyglass.

His Dark Materials boasts an all-star cast including Ruth Wilson (The Affair), James McAvoy (Split), Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Dafne Keen (Logan)You can watch the previously released teaser HERE.
