The lovable children’s story of Captain Underpants is coming to Netflix in July and parents will notice a familiar voice narrating the series.
Actor and all around great guy Sean Astin confirmed on Tuesday that he will be lending his voice to the series titled The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants based on novels by author and illustrator Dav Pilkey. Astin confirmed his involvement via his Instagram earlier today. Check out his post below:
Netflix and DreamWorks present The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants which follows the adventures of George Beard and Harold Hutchins, two best friends who’ve bonded through their love of pranking, comic books and being the thorns in Principal Krupp’s side. Their fun gets them mixed up in adventures crazier than their outrageous comic books, which is when they call on their greatest creation: Captain Underpants! From Peabody Award and Emmy-winning executive producer Peter Hastings (Animaniacs, Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness), the series will be available to Netflix members worldwide in 2018.
The series looks like a “must-watch” for anyone with kids who love the original books or the 2017 film. Just last week, Dreamworks released a video of the series’ theme song along with lyrics! Check it out.
As for Astin, he is best known for a countless number of incredible films including The Goonies, Rudy, The Lord of the Rings trilogy and just to name a few from his impressive resume.
This isn’t Astin’s first dabble in a production hosted on the Netflix streaming service platform. Astin had a guest role in the hit nostalgia series Stranger Things as fan favorite character Bob Newby. Sadly, his character was killed by demogorgon dogs or demo-dogs.
The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants premieres on Netflix on July 13th. Are you excited?
