‘Star Trek: Discovery’ Arrives in Light Speed

Star Trek: Discovery aired it’s first episode on CBS, as well as the second on CBS All Access last night!

We got a chance to watch and thought it was really impressive and something special for those who have been loyal Star Trek fans since the first series, and even more interesting, those who have never been introduced to its world.

The opening scenes were chock full of action. The series wasted no time and those sequences will someday be what today’s young generation recognizes as the world of The Star Fleet.

It takes place 10 years before the original series, and Sonequa Martin-Green (Commander Michael Burnam) leads the cast.

Sonequa really stole the show with her strong performance as Michael. Her star was really shining. Her character is not a simple Commander, as she is the adopted sister of Spock after her human parents were killed by Klingons.

Michelle Yeoh (Captain Philippa Georgiou)

Captain of the USS Shenzou, Michelle Yeoh really came through as a steadfast leader. One of the main conflicts of the show came from Captain and Michael butting heads, when the Klingons make their first appearance in many years and threaten their ship.

One standout that we couldn’t help but notice is how beautifully shot the show was. It was as cinematic as television can be, and whether that’s because they shot the primetime series with similar drama to that of a crime show, or because the drama fits, it was a solid premiere.

This is also a good sign, Star Trek alums tweeted all positive reactions to the series. William Shatner said it brought him to tears!

Overall, we really liked the series and want to know what you thought of it!
To see more, you’ll have to subscribe to CBS All Access, as the rest of the series won’t premiere on regular cable.
