‘Star Wars’ at EA Play 2018: ‘Battlefront II,’ ‘Jedi Fallen Order’

Star Wars: Battlefront II may have had a rough start after its release back in November, when the game was criticized for having a somewhat unfair progression system, but it has come a long way since then. In March, the game was updated with a completely new progression system with fewer microtransactions. During EA Play 2018, in the midst of Star Wars: Battlefront II‘s Han Solo season (which began on May 16), it was announced that General Grievous, Count Dooku, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Anakin Skywalker will be joining the lineup of heroes in Star Wars: Battlefront II‘s multiplayer as Clone Wars characters. In addition to the four new heroes, the planet Geonosis will be added to the game as well. According to EA, this new season will begin in the fall. Personally, I hope that we get at least one other hope to see at least one other Republic hero added to the mix, like Ahsoka Tano, or even Padmé Amidala.

Another major Star Wars announcement was made during the press conference when Jedi Fallen Order, an upcoming title being developed by Respawn Entertainment was announced. It has been implied that gamers will indeed be playing as a jedi in this game, and the title will take place in between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, which, during EA Play, Vince Zampella from Respawn described as “the dark times.” It is unknown which characters we will be playing as, or whether or not they’re someone completely new to the franchise. I see one candidate being Kanan Jarrus, a jedi from Star Wars: Rebels. I think that there’s still some of his story left to tell in between his comic series of the same name, and A New Dawn (a novel that tells the story of how Kanan met Hera, another character from Rebels). Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order is set to be released during late 2019.
