‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Included Sounds from ‘Indiana Jones’

As we already know, there were a lot of Easter eggs and cameos in ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’. You probably missed a few of them when you watched it the first time. Daniel Craig that is dressed as a stormtrooper, kevin Smith doing a First Order voiceover and Simon Pegg that plays Unkar Plutt. We have one more for you that goes a little deeper.

David Acord, who was a supervising sound editor and sound designer for ‘The Force Awakens’ revealed to Nerdist that while they were creating loads of sounds and audio effects, they did rely on the vast Lucasfilm archives. Including the ones for Indiana Jones.

“When the rathtar is rolling down the hallway after Han and Chewie, I put in the sound of Ben Burtt’s boulder roll sound from Raiders of the Lost Ark when the boulder is chasing Indy.”

Here is a video with the Boulder scene. Obviously the scene from in ‘The Force Awakens’ is not online yet, but this gives a little bit to imagine about.

Also from the same interview Acord told that the sound when Kylo Ren’s using the force is actually a kitten that is meowing slowed down. Even with some of the characters in Maz Kanata’s bar were recorded sounds of baby noises and parrots. It’s all processed and distorted in a very perfect way!
