‘Stranger Things’ Kids Perform as Motown Group ‘The Upside Downs’ with James Corden
Motown gave us legendary artists like The Jackson 5, The Four Tops, The Temptations, and if it wasn’t for a little series on Netflix, we would have had The Upside Downs too. Never heard of The Upside Downs? Well, that is the name of the Motown cover band featuring The Late Late Show’s James Corden and the cast of Stranger Things – Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin and Noah Schnapp.
Way back in the day, so to speak, these 5 friends were once “classmates” that decided to start a cover band performing at school dances, birthday parties and retirement homes. Eventually, they came across a Netflix executive that suggested that they audition for a new series. Four of the five band members were cast, Finn, Caleb, Noah and Gaten. James auditioned for the role of Eleven but the streaming network decided to go in another direction. The rest is history!
Stranger Things quickly became a huge hit and fan favorite when it premiered, catapulting its cast into stardom while James went on to become the host of The Late Late Show on CBS.
Although all five have seen success in their careers, there was something that they all truly missed…performing as The Upside Downs.
“I mean, we miss it. We still miss it. So I called up the boys and said let’s get the band back together for one more night,” stated Finn Wolfhard.
So, the band reunited for the very first time, for one night only. Watch below:
Oh my gosh! As if these guys couldn’t get any cuter than they already are…Oh, and James Corden too.
You can watch the entire second season of Stranger Things on Netflix now and The Late Late Show with James Corden airs every weeknight at 12:37 am on CBS.
