Stranger Things star Shannon Purser captured our hearts as Barb on the hit nostalgic Netflix series. Now, she’s stepping into the lead role and is ready to tug at our heartstrings once more in Netflix’s new upcoming film Sierra Burgess is a Loser.
Netflix dropped the first trailer for the upcoming film on Wednesday and it brought tears to our eyes. In the trailer, it’s clear already that Purser shines as the film lead. She plays Sierra, a smart yet awkward teenage high school student who doesn’t quite fit in with the popular kids at school. She struggles with her self-esteem and feels that she doesn’t quite measure up to the shallow, high school definition of pretty. Everything begins to change for her though when Sierra is forced to team up with the most popular girl in school in order to help win over the heart of her crush.

The film will be available to stream via Netflix on September 7th.
