‘Supergirl’ Recap ‘In Plain Sight’

Supergirl Recap ‘In Plain Sight’

With Malefic still at large, Team Supergirl is working hard to find track the Martian down. Unfortunately, the alien infiltrates the DEO first, using his mind control on one of the agents. Alex discovers the betrayal, but the agent uses the power against her. Malefic shows Alex the truth about J’onn. She confronts him, saying she trusted him and he withheld the truth. J’onn never meant for that to happen, he just didn’t know how to tell her. Alex and the agent then clean out the DEO’s armory of Martian weaponry.

James and Kelly have gone into hiding, choosing their hometown. While there, they meet Simon Kirby, who’s mother was wrongfully imprisoned. The Olsens take Simon under the wing, most notably James. As he helps Simon and uncover the injustice in the town, James starts to realize that he needs to leave National City behind. He’s been blacklisted by Andrea, but that doesn’t mean he can’t start his own publishing house. Still connected to Malefic, Kelly has a vision of Alex in danger and demands that they return.

Team Supergirl tracks down Alex and Malefic. Alex tries to kill them, but J’onn is able to reach her. She wasn’t the only one who was under Malefic’s mind control, and he has the other people in the building turn the Martian tech on them. Before they left to save Alex, Kara called in Lena for help. She fixed a shield and the Phantom Zone projector for them. Because of that and Kelly’s arrival, they are able to subdue the humans and corner Malefic. J’onn uses the projector and sends his brother away.

In the midst of all this, Kara is investigating William’s activities. She uncovers the truth behind the journalist. He has been undercover trying to unravel the web of lies surrounding Andrea. William apologizes for being a jerk to Kara, but he had to in order to get into Andrea’s good graces. He was also working with an Interpol agent (the man killed last week). Moving forward, it looks like Kara and William will be investigating Andrea together.

The end of the episode had quite the twist as we learn that Malefic wasn’t actually banished to the Phantom Zone. Lena fixes the portal, but she set it up so that the Martian would be transported to her lab. She tells Malefic that she isn’t his enemy. She believes that they can help each other. What Lena really wants is to study his mind control ability. This of course comes after Kara officially welcomed Lena to Team Supergirl. I’ve really been loving what the season has brought for Lena, and I can’t wait for the truth to come out. We’ll be in for quite the emotional episodes.
