‘The Flash’ Recap ‘Gone Rogue’

The Flash Recap ‘Gone Rogue’

Nora has run back to the past using Thawne’s method of creating his own negative Speed Force. Her first course of action is to put together a team of villains who will help her get what she wants. Nora enlists the aid of Weather Witch, Bug-Eyed Bandit, and Rag Doll in order to steal tech from S.T.A.R. Labs before they pull their even bigger heist. They infiltrate the building, kidnapping Cisco and Sherloque along the way, and steal the phone infected with dark matter that can control people’s minds.

Barry and Iris have reconciled their relationship, but still believe that Nora is working directly with Thawne. Iris isn’t too convinced because she was there when Nora ran from her teacher. He looked surprised. Iris says it was also odd that Thawne was the one who told her she needed to make amends with Barry. Of course, Barry isn’t too happy that Iris is listening to his arch-rival, but he puts that aside to deal with the new Rogues.

Meanwhile, Caitlin and Ralph join forces to figure out what Grace/Cicada’s next move is. She stole from Icicle in the previous episode, but it turns out she took more than we thought. Grace stole the prototype for the metahuman cure. Back at Grace’s hideout, she is tampering with the piece of tech Icicle was using to turn Caitlin’s mother into a meta, and who should appear behind her? Orlin. He’s back and I think Grace is going to reverse engineer the cure so that her father can get his powers back. Great. Just what we need is two full-powered Cicadas.

Nora and company pull their heist, but everything goes wrong when the Rogues turn on her. They set up a power dampener, which saps Nora’s powers, but Bug-Eyed Bandit can still control her bees thanks to Cisco and the mind-control phone. They hack the airwaves and demand that the Flash appear and reveal his identity. The Flash “appears,” but it’s just a rescued Sherloque using the hologram machine. Barry, Iris, and Joe were posing as security guards and reveal their true selves. A fight breaks out and Barry intercepts a bolt of lightning intended for Nora, which ricochets off him and destroys the power dampener. The three Rogues are taken into custody once again.

Nora then admits that what she was trying to steal was a gun that when loaded with a special device can render Cicada’s boomerang powerless. I guess this was her way of trying to get back in her father’s good graces, but I just know that there’s more going on. Barry would be happy with both Cicadas stopped, but what is Nora’s true endgame. In that sense, what is Thawne’s master plan. There’s not much time left until his execution.

Next week is the penultimate episode of Season 5 entitled ‘The Girl With the Red Lightning.’
