‘The Hunt for Wolverine’: Marvel’s new Villain a 90’s Throwback:

Disclaimer: this review has major spoilers for Hunt for Wolverine: Weapon Lost #3.

Comics have this flawless ability to merge intellect, super strength, notoriety and immortality within all their main characters. So after Charles Soule, who’s responsible for the Wolverine’s full-blown return, painted The Death of Wolverine, it came as no surprise.

Matt Murdock/ Daredevil leads a mission with his team which includes investigator Misty Night, Frank McGee who’s an inhuman detective and Cypher a mutant interfacing technology with the digital universe. In the course of their investigation, things get murkier when Wolverine’s android-clone, Albert, a throwback villain from the 90’s, makes a dramatic entrance.
Previously Cypher is injured while on a mission and issue #3 develops a thicker plot as Daredevil, Misty and Frank are intercepted by Cypher’s attacker amid rushing their teammate to safety.

Albert, assuming he’s being tracked by the team for annihilation, charges at all of them. The combative skills Daredevil possesses help him survive the grueling fight with a few slashes. Imagining himself the victim, Albert tries to flee but Daredevil is in hot pursuit.

With the help of Frank and Misty, the clone is gunned down and Cypher sweeps in to silence him with one last blow. In his final minutes of consciousness, Albert pleas with Daredevil to tell him what happened to his daughter Elsie-Dee which raises Daredevil’s suspicions about how much they know or don’t know.

In a twist of events, one of their leads in Chicago is exterminated and this issue ends with them trapped in a middle of an explosion proving that someone changed the rules of the game and they might well be the target.
