‘The Kids Are Alright’: Michael Cudlitz and Series Creator Tim Doyle Tease an Upcoming ‘The Walking Dead’ Guest Star

Season 9 of The Walking Dead took viewers on a journey through time, as the series experienced two different time-jumps into the future, and then went back in time again to explore a little bit of the past. Now, it looks like some Walking Dead cast members may be time traveling yet again, only this time they’ll be going way back to the 1970s.

The Walking Dead alum Michael Cudlitz is currently starring on ABC’s hilariously fun new comedy The Kids Are Alright. During a recent interview with TV Insider, he teased the possibility of someone from his “not so distant past” making a guest appearance on the show. One can guess that Cudlitz is likely talking about one of his castmates from The Walking Dead, but we actually don’t have to guess. The Kids Are Alright creator Tim Doyle took the tease one step further and confirmed that someone (or multiple someones) from The Walking Dead will be appearing on the ABC sitcom.

In a tweet, Doyle teased, “A Michael Cudlitz pal (or two) from TWD will be stopping by the Cleary-verse in upcoming weeks. Keep eyes (and ears) wide open.” He followed up the tease with another tweet pointing out that perhaps, this guest appearance was written in the stars long before it happened. He joked, “BTW, my initials also happen to be TWD. Amazing coincidence or destiny? (Probably just coincidence. I’m going to bed now.zzzzzzzzz)”

As of now, it’s unclear who this mysterious Walking Dead guest star (or stars) might be, but based on Doyle’s tease, it might be a voice that we recognize rather than someone we see. Andrew Lincoln sure does have a rather distinctly recognizable voice, doesn’t he? Also, wouldn’t it be great to see Cudlitz and Josh McDermitt back on screen together? We’ll just have to wait and see who shows up on the series.

The Kids Are Alright is an ensemble comedy set in the 1970s. The series follows a traditional Irish-Catholic family, the Clearys, as they navigate big and small changes during one of America’s most turbulent decade.

The series is inspired by the childhood of writer/executive producer Tim Doyle, who also narrates in voiceover as older Timmy. In addition to Cudlitz, The Kids Are Alright stars Mary McCormack, Sam Straley, Caleb Martin Foote, Sawyer Barth, Christopher Paul Richards, Jack Gore, Andy Walken, and Santino Barnard. The series just wrapped filming on its first season and is likely for renewal in the upcoming weeks.

The series airs Tuesday nights at 8:30 pm EST on ABC.
