The Pull List 3/16/16

Fellow Geeklings!!! Not only
is today the best day of the week,
#yaynewcomics, but it just so happens to
fall on the best obscure holiday
ever,
National Stone Cold Steve Austin Day (it’s 3/16 kids!)!! I’m not
sure if this
an actual holiday
but it should be. So Geeklings, crack open a Steveweiser and
give me a “Hell
Yeah” as it’s time to break
down the best books of the
week.

On a personal level my Pull List
is a bit light this week after
getting
hit pretty hard last week. The only book that came out for me

was DC’s Injustice Year Five
which is based on the Injustice: Gods
Among Us
video game, and
is a pretty awesome reimagining of
the DC universe.
I’m not the biggest Superman fan in the world, as a matter
of fact I think
he’s a bit
overrated. What?! I think it’s way too many powers for a man to
have, and
before you start with the “he’s
an alien” argument I want you to know
that that won’t change my mind.
Although I will say if I’m going to
read a
Superman story I do like him as the villain. Suddenly all those
powers become a
real pain when the
entire DC universe is plotting to take him down. That’s why
I’m such a big
fan of Injustice. Give
me a rogue Man of Steel any
day.

But just because I don’t
have any books coming
out of on my Pull List doesn’t mean you shouldn’t.
There are a number of good books for you to
check out this week starting off
in
DC. A couple more books are hitting that milestone fiftieth issue which
is
plenty to be excited about.
For starters Green Arrow looks to be
kicking off a new story line
involving everyone’s favorite one
eyed, sword
wielding baddie, Deathstroke! While the Green Arrow
comic has not been
as
consistently good as it’s television counter part, this new story with

Deathstroke could strike some fresh
energy through the series. Else
where Superman #50 sees the
wrapping of the “Savage Dawn” crossover
as
well as the end of writer Gene Luen Yang’s tenure on the book. Milestone
books
tend to be a bit
bigger and usually come with some sort of game changing event,
here’s
hoping Green Arrow and
Superman don’t hold any
punches.

Over in the land of Marvel
the
two heads of the upcoming
Civil War II conflict have
books coming out this week. On one
side Brian
Michael Bendis will see the release of his second ongoing Iron
Man book
in International
Iron Man #1
which promises to cover the adventures of
Tony Stark on a
more global scale, and on the
other side (quite literally as
most of this book takes place in space)
Captain Marvel #3 sees Carol

Danvers continue to struggle with her powers and dealing with a possible
traitor
in the Alpha Force. If
you’re looking to learn more about the leaders
of Civil War II
then it might not be a bad time to
jump on these books
as we lead up to the event. And speaking of events,
check
out Extraordinary X-Men
#8
and All New X-Men #6 as the mutant
population preps itself
for a massive Apocalypse
crossover. Yes, this is very
convenient with the movie on the horizon but
I’ve got no problem with that if

it means we get a kick ass Apocalypse story!

If
you’re not looking for books from

the two big publishers I’ve got just the thing for you!
Providing that thing is foul mouthed, badass, women who
drink, kill, and
party in the D&D inspired
fantasy comic you wish you
thought of but can read instead. If that’s the
case then do yourself a favor

and pick up Rat Queens #15 over at Image Comics. And over at IDW be

sure to get your nostalgic
on in the one shot Transformers: Deviations #1
which imagines a world
where Optimus Prime never died.
This book also comes
heavily recommended by fellow Fan Fest columnist Mike
Garone.

There you have it Geeklings. Tons of books for you to
spend
your hard earned adult dollars on.
If you find that your eyeholes get
tired from reading too much don’t forget
season two of Daredevil
drops
on Friday so get ready to get your binge on. And since it’s
National Stone Cold
Steve Austin
Day, that’s the bottom line because Stone Cold said so! Happy

reading!

Be
sure to let me know what’s on
your Pull List for the week in the comments.
Stay frosty Geeklings!
