The Walking Dead: “A Very Different” Rick Grimes in Movies & Andrew Lincoln is Ready to Return!

This week, the man who is in charge of The Walking Dead Universe, Scott Gimple, let fans know that Andrew Lincoln was as equally eager to return as Rick Grimes! There was an information overload this week with three separate Walking Dead panels at San Diego Comic-Con at home.

Gimple told Comicbook.com’s Brandon Davis, during an interview, that, “I got to tell you, he’s itching to get back, too,” said Gimple. “We all are.”

Gimple said, “So much of what we’ve been doing is honing and tweaking and experimenting, and we’re just in the lab with it,” Gimple told ComicBook.com. “And we’ve been playing around a lot. We were doing that before and now it’s forced upon us. We don’t know when we would be doing it if everything was finished right now, we just don’t know, but we’re still in the lab. We’re still goofing around with it. We’re still playing around with it.”

Also this past week, The Walking Dead creator, Robert Kirkman, let fans know that the pandemic has slowed production but may be helping the overall product of the Rick Grimes Movie. The delay has allowed for fine-tuning of the film.

“We have to honor people who have invested the time in their lives in the show,” Gimple said said. “But we can’t do that at the expense of inviting everybody. I think those things can work together… Rick has a history and the history will be present within him and it’ll be a big part of who he is. But it’s likely going to be a very different Rick that we see as well.

From the SDCC at Home panels, we also learned that The Walking Dead will return for its Season 10 finale on October 4 at 9 p.m. Eastern. Along with this news, it was disclosed that there would be six additional episodes filmed for Season 10 of the show. Think of them as bonus episodes, as time for filming has been reduced due to the pandemic. We won’t see Season 11 of The Walking Dead until late 2021, most likely in its normal October start.

  1. I appreciate the extra episodes for season 10 of The Walking Dead.
Ps I just have a ‘FEELING’ Maggie has had Lucille this whole time, since they BOTH have not been seen. I also have a ‘FEELING’ Negan is going to meet his fate by Lucille at Maggie’s hand.
    Just sayin’
Karma never looses an address….especially when her name is ‘the Widow’

  2. OMG i am so happy about walking dead season 10!! I can’t wait, but I do want Rick to please please please come back. I LOVE THE WALKING DEAD…..

  3. I love the walking dead and would lobe to continue seeing more like it beyond 2021. Hopefully there will be more than one walking dead movie, it would be a disappointment if there weren’t. An encore so to speak one that i hope would never end.
