‘The Walking Dead’ Past Meets the Present in its San Diego Comic-Con Banner Celebrating 100 Episodes

It’s finally Comic-Con week!  And that means all eyes will be fixed upon the San Diego Convention Center to see just what awesome entertainment news is revealed over the 4-day event.  Already, we are getting some sneak peeks as to what those attending will be able to see while they are walking the Con floor.

One such sight includes this awesome banner for The Walking Dead‘s season premiere which has already been photographed and is creating a buzz on social media.  When The Walking Dead returns in October for its 8th season, the series will also be hitting its 100th episode which is a massive milestone for any television series.  In order to celebrate what’s sure to be an explosive 8th season, the banner offers a look back at the very beginning and the characters that started it all.

On the left side of the poster, we see a collage of characters that we love and have lost.  The grouping includes Merle Dixon (Michael Rooker), Andrea (Laurie Holden), The Governor (David Morrissey), Lori Grimes (Sarah Wayne Callies), Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green), Deanna (Tovah Feldshuh), Glenn (Steven Yeun) and many others from the series, both living and dead.  Leading the group is, of course, Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) dressed in his full-on Sheriff’s uniform with his gun drawn and ready to fire.

The ride side of the banner tells a different story.  We see our modern day characters such as Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), King Ezekiel (Khary Payton), Jesus (Tom Payne), Morgan (Lennie James, Jadis (Pollyanna McIntosh), Rosita (Christian Serratos) and many others.  The group is, once again, led by Rick who, this time, is not wearing normal clothing with no gun.  The infamous hammer can be seen hanging from his belt.

The juxtaposition of the two versions of The Walking Dead characters truly shows just how far the series has come and how much our favorite characters and our survival group has grown and evolved throughout the course of the series.  The left side of the banner seems noticeably more crowded and with more characters where as the right seems empty clearly, symbolizing all those we have lost along the way.  The left side of the poster also shows more of our survival group, Rick’s group where as the right side features Winslow the junk yard walker as well as other walkers and the saviors.

Clearly, lots of danger lies ahead for Rick’s group in season 8 but, before an All Out War breaks loose, the series is taking the time to thank fans for their undying support.  The poster reads, “The Walking Dead 100 Episodes.  Thank you, Fans!”
