‘The Walking Dead’ Star Norman Reedus Celebrates Fleet Week in NYC

The Walking Dead star, Norman Reedus, helped the men and women of the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps celebrate Fleet Week 2016.

In case you don’t know, since 1984, New York City has held Fleet Week to honor the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. The week long celebration features extensive military demonstrations, as well as the opportunity for the public to tour some of the visiting ships.  The Memorial Day commemoration is a highlight of the week’s festivities, featuring the singing of Taps and a military aircraft fly over in honor of those who lost their lives in service to the United States.

Reedus joined in the fun by visiting troops at Sailor Jerry’s Fleet Week Block Party on Sunday down at Pier 84 in New York City.  According to The Socialite, Reedus said the following before attending the event:

“I’m a huge supporter of our military and thankful for their efforts.  I was excited to lend a hand to the cause and look forward to the event. We’re throwing a free concert for everyone, and I’ll arrive on this incredible bike that Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum custom built and which it will give to a member of the military later through Aleethia. It’s going to be an awesome day, and I hope the men and women of the service have a great time. They deserve our appreciation and our gratitude.”

Reedus arrived in style on the custom made 1994 Harley Davidson Motorcycle designed by LA Speed Shop’s Chris Richardson and Buck Wild along West 44th Street.  Following Reedus’ arrival, the motorcycle will be gifted to the chosen recipient through The Aleethia Foundation, a foundation which supports wounded, injured and ill service members in their rehabilitation and healing process.

The day was spent with Reedus hanging out with the troops, taking selfies, giving out hugs and doing what he does best, making his fans smile!  He told the cheering crowd:

“This is all for you guys.  Honestly, I’m honored. Thank you all for your service.”

  1. I love Norman Reedus! He just seems like such a good guy, I hope Daryl didn’t meet his end last season.
