The Walking Dead: Will Rick and Michonne Find Each Other? Scott Gimple has the Answer

Andrew Lincoln has previously stated that he may have left The Walking Dead too soon, as the writing for the show has been strong the past two seasons. There wouldn’t be a more exciting moment on the show than to have Rick Grimes make a comeback. However, a comeback may not happen on the show that you are hoping for. Now we know, it may not happen on any show… at all. But we also now know if Rick and Michonne will find each other on screen again.

What we do know is that Lincoln has still been involved with the show. According to Scott Gimple, who is in charge of The Walking Dead Universe for AMC, Gimple said had during San Diego Comic-Con at Home that Lincoln still has a huge say in what happens in the series. “He throws around the football with the rest of us. He’s very, very interested in this thing,” said Gimple. “And I got to tell you, he’s itching to get back, too. We all are,” he continued.

Yesterday, Gimple confirmed to Comicbook.com that Rick Grimes won’t appear until the movies.

“You know what? I’m very happy to say… I’m not happy to say the answer. I’m happy to be definitive with people. It is not,” Gimple said when asked if World Beyond’s final destination was Rick Grimes. “That’s one, I don’t know if people are being cagey about that. But I feel that one’s important not to be cagey about. I think people could watch this show and learn a lot about the mythology that Rick Grimes is caught up in. And they might even see places where Rick Grimes has been. But yeah, he’s not swinging around the corner. And I don’t even know if I’m making people upset saying that, but I just don’t like people watching it, sort of expecting Rick.”

CB: Actually I know that the movie is always in flux! So, I was gonna say, have we seen the last of Richonne?

SG: Oh. I mean, I really don’t think so. I just said we were working on the movies, you asked that question, we’ll leave it at that.

CB: I love it. I love it, man.

SG: And you know, there’s… It’s weird, I was talking to somebody this afternoon, people should pay attention to the way that Michonne left the show.

CB: Yeah, King Bach came and took her away.

SG: There’s something going on there. Yeah, King Bach was there. I’m very grateful to him. We probably haven’t seen the end of him either. It was King Bach for a reason. But that was a pretty big group she was with.

Last week, The Walking Dead: World Beyond had listed Andrew Lincoln in the cast list for the Season Finale that aired last night. AMC has since had that pulled from IMDB.com but it happened. AMC has told Insider it was an error and didn’t want to get fan’s hopes up. Sounds a bit curious to us! What didn’t help the situation was that one of World Beyond‘s stars, Nico Tortorella, appeared to jokingly confirmed it OR he was just messing with fans.

We do know that a Season 10b of The Walking Dead is set to air early next year and filming is under way. We’ve also learned that one of these episodes will tell Negan’s back story and about his wife, Lucille, who will be played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s real-life wife, Hilarie Burton. There will be a six episode continuation of Season 10, followed by a 24 episode Season 11 later in the year, carrying the show to its end in 2022.

A conclusion of Season 11 would logically take us into the Rick Grimes movies.

Either way, fans are ready for their hero to return. It’s time for Rick Grimes to return to the world of The Walking Dead. The world needs Rick Grimes!

What are your thoughts on Andrew Lincoln and The Walking Dead? Are you ready for more Rick Grimes?
