Timothée Chalamet Scores Henry V Role in Netflix’s ‘The King’

You’ve probably heard of Timothée Chalamet over the past few months. The 22-year-old actor is in the midst of an amazing award season with a Best Actor nomination for his role in Call Me By Your Name, which is also nominated for Best Picture. And if one Best Picture nomination wasn’t enough, Chalamet also appeared in Greta Gerwig’s Lady Bird which secured a nomination as well. So, it’s safe to say he’s in pretty high demand and Netflix was lucky enough to scoop him up for his first role post-Oscars in The King, a film that follows a young Henry V as he takes the throne in the late 1300s right as England nears war with France.

The King is written by David Michôd (Animal Kingdom) and Joel Edgerton (The Great Gatsby). Brad Pitt’s Plan B will produce along with Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner. This will be Michôd’s second go around with Netflix and Plan B after last year’s War Machine (below). Robert Pattinson is currently reported to appear in The King as well according to IMDB, but there has not been an official announcement as of yet. The King is scheduled for a 2019 release date.

Chalamet won’t be leaving the big screen anytime soon though. You can catch him alongside Steve Carrell in the upcoming Beautiful Boy and Woody Allen’s A Rainy Day in New York, for which Chalament donated his entire salary to the Times Up movement.

You can catch Chalament at the Academy Awards on March 4th!
