Title of Joker Origin Movie Revealed

It seems that DC is finally stepping up their game in the movie industry, as things are moving pretty fast for the Joaquin Phoenix Joker origin movie. Although this movie is not the only one on the production list (as we are also getting a Jared Leto Joker standalone film, a spin-off from the 2016 Suicide Squad movie), we see this one being pushed forward by Warner. The Joker origin movie is going to be directed by Todd Philips, with Joaquin Phoenix as the Clown Prince of Crime himself.

The Hashtag Show exclusively reported that Todd Philips his Joker movie will start production in September, in New York, bearing the name ‘Romeo.’ All details about the plot are, of course, held under lock and key, but they did announce that the movie will be set in the 1980s and explore how the Prince of Crime came to be. What makes me have some hope on this movie, is that it will be inspired by Alan Moore’s The Killing Joke comics.

As comic lovers know, The Killing Joke is about a man that loves his family dearly but fails to be a comedian. When tragedy hits the man’s life, he sees no other way then to turn to madness. Don’t think about this storyline too much, as this movie will be a part of the DC Dark era, which leaves a lot of room for artistic experimentation for the DC Comic movies. The movies that will come out of the DC Dark era will be cheaper to make and have a darker, more adult theme compared to the previous DC movies.

Many more join Todd Philips his crew as the Oscar-winning costume designer Mark Bridges (known for his work of Phantom Thread), production designer Mark Friedberg (Noah) and cinematographer Lawrence Sher join the team.
