Tom Hiddleston to Star in West End Production of Pinter’s ‘Betrayal’

Tom Hiddleston fans were pondering Wednesday when the actor shared a dark, slow teaser on his social media.

The mysterious clip left us wondering if he just shared what will become the Loki spinoff he teased last week.
In the teaser, Hiddleston looks a bit sad, and slowly walks towards the camera. He looks off into the near distance, seemingly recognizing somebody but realizing something unpleasant.

The word “Betrayal” flashes on screen after almost a full minute of Hiddleston looking, well, betrayed.

So, this isn’t the Loki series we are clamoring for.

It’s actually a part of the announcement that Hiddleston will star in an upcoming Harold Pinter stage play titled “Betrayal.” The play was initially performed at London’s National Theater forty years ago, and now the Jamie Lloyd Company has announced its revival.

Betrayal is about two married couples and an affair told backwards over a seven-year period.

The production will run in London’s West End at the Harold Pinter theater for its 12 week limited engagement beginning March 5th, 2019.

The Jamie Lloyd Company is known for putting on Nobel Prize winner plays that star the likes of Tamsin Greig, Jane Horrocks and Martin Freeman.

Betrayal is a masterpiece. Jamie Lloyd’s Pinter at the Pinter season is terrific and I am so pleased that he’s asked me to be part of it.” Hiddleston said in a statement.

This won’t be the UK actor’s first play. Before the Marvel years, he had previously starred in Othello and Cymbeline.

Rest easy Marvellians, we will see more of him as Loki, as he did confirm last week writing, “More stories to tell. More mischief to make. More to come.” Perhaps the Loki series will appear on Disney’s streaming service, newly titled Disney +.

Tickets for the production go on sale Friday November 30th for General Admission, and the 29th for special ticket holder members.
