Tom Holland: a Forgotten Tom Holland Movie Arrives on Netflix this Week

Tom Holland is making waves right now between all of the news regarding the upcoming Spider-Man film starting production to his starring role as Nathan Drake in Uncharted.  Holland is a mega-star and before fans were familiar with him he was in a somewhat unknown actor in some excellent films.  As well, The Devil All the Time, which Holland starred in has been a hit for Netflix.  Now, another title that features Holland is headed to Netflix too.

And, it’s his first film… ever!

The Impossible, directed by J.A. Bayona and written by Sergio G. Sánchez, is a 2012 disaster drama based on the true story of Maria Belón and her family who endured the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami together. Holland plays the eldest son, 13-year-old Lucas, and he’s joined by heavy hitters like Naomi Watts as Maria and Ewan McGregor as her husband Henry.

The film has at an 81% on Rotten Tomatoes. Unlike many disaster movies, this one is loosely based on a true story and is considered to be one of the most dramatic and realistic disaster movies ever made.

Here’s the official description: In December 2004, close-knit family Maria (Naomi Watts), Henry (Ewan McGregor) and their three sons begin their winter vacation in Thailand. But the day after Christmas, the idyllic holiday turns into an incomprehensible nightmare when a terrifying roar rises from the depths of the sea, followed by a wall of black water that devours everything in its path. Though Maria and her family face their darkest hour, unexpected displays of kindness and courage ameliorate their terror.
