WATCH: New ‘Deadpool 2’ Teaser Trailer Released

It’s a bird!  It’s a plane!  It’s Super…. errr…. IT’S DEADPOOL!  That’s right!  The merc with a mouth is back with a brand new teaser trailer which is being shown in theaters during screenings of Marvel’s Logan.  Today, the man himself, Ryan Reynolds, released a version of that trailer via his social media and the internets world has rejoiced!

WATCH: New 'Deadpool 2' Teaser Trailer ReleasedIn the nearly four-minute teaser, Wade Wilson (Reynolds) stumbles across a mugging in progress (conveniently taking place right across the street from a movie theater playing Logan).  Wilson can’t just pass up the opportunity to help the man in trouble but first, he needs to change into his signature red suit.

Spoofing Superman, with the theme song playing and all, Wilson ducks into a phone booth and proceeds to struggle while changing because, let’s face it, there’s not enough room in there to really do anything.  Wilson continues to struggle with his suit and things escalate quickly with the mugging.  While Wilson is ultimately unsuccessful in saving the day, this trailer is TOTALLY successful in building up hype for the film’s next installment.

Fans have already begun to dissect the teaser looking for hints, Easter eggs and anything else that may be lurking in the background.  So far, we’ve found Stan Lee’s newest cameo.  That was the easiest to spot.

There’s also a nod to the X-Men character Cable on the phone booth itself.  Graffiti on the phone booth reads, “Nathan Summers coming soon.”  Yes, they used an alternative spelling of the word “coming” but, that’s not the real interesting part.  Nathan Summers exists in the Marvel world with a superhero alter ego.  That alter ego is Cable.  At the end of his first movie, Deadpool announced that Cable would be featured in the next film.  Though casting of that role has yet to be released, the trailer gives us a possible theory as to who might be playing that character.  We’ll get to that in a just a second.

Fans have also pointed out the word “Hope” is written on the phone booth and on a number of other places throughout the trailer.  This could be a reference to Hope Summers, Cable’s daughter.

Lastly, could the Firefly posters, which can be clearly seen in the background at around the 2-minute mark, mean anything significant?  Perhaps this is a hint that Nathan Fillion may be taking on the role of Cable?  Of course, that’s pure speculation at this point but, those posters have got to mean something significant for them to be the only in-focused items from the background, right?WATCH: New 'Deadpool 2' Teaser Trailer Released
