WATCH: Spike’s Featurette ‘Reimagining The Mist’ from a Story by Stephen King

Spike TV’s new series The Mist is setting up to be a terrifyingly awesome new series based on the original story by Stephen King.  Each time we get a new trailer or behind the scenes clip from the series, we are getting more and more pumped for its premiere.

Today, we’re bringing you a brand new featurette from Spike TV entitled Reimagining The Mist.  The 2 minute and 20 second snippet features show creator/runner Christian Torpe discussing the similarities and differences of the new series as compared to the original story from King as well as the 2007 film version.

Torpe notes that, the original story takes place during a very short amount of time in a supermarket so, in order to turn that into a show, they had to get a little creative.  While they had to change several aspects relating to the story, they made sure to remain respectful to the source material.

Series star Morgan Spector, who plays Kevin Copeland in the series, said:

“Christian obviously, noticed there isn’t enough there, necessarily, to stretch it out for a series and, so he’s taken all the weird, little idiosyncratic characters and the old, tense relationships between people who have known each other their whole lives in a small town and cramming them all together in a high pressure environment and seeing what fissures emerge and how people crack.  That sense of just staring for a long time at someone while they break is what Christian has taken from the story.”

That description from Spector sounds INTENSE!  The featurette also includes commentary from other cast members, giving even further insight into the storyline’s transformation for the series.  Check out the full video below:

The series stars Morgan Spector, Alyssa Sutherland, Gus Birney, Danica Curcic, Okezie Morro, Luke Cosgrove, Darren Pettie, Russell Posner, Dan Butler, Isiah Whitlock Jr., and Frances Conroy.  The official synopsis for Spikes The Mist is below:

Based on a story by Stephen King, Spike’s THE MIST centers around a small town family that is torn apart by a brutal crime. As they deal with the fallout an eerie mist rolls in, suddenly cutting them off from the rest of the world and, in some cases, each other. Family, friends and adversaries become strange bedfellows, battling the mysterious mist and its threats, fighting to maintain morality and sanity as the rules of society break down.
