Watch the New Bloody Red Band Trailer for the James Gunn-Produced ‘Brightburn’

The newest look at the upcoming film Brightburn is definitely not for the squeamish. The extended red band scene offers a bloody showdown between an anti-superhero and an unsuspecting victim.

Brightburn tells the story of an alien child sent to earth and raised by a rural, loving family. As the child grows, he begins to learn he has special powers which he can’t control. Things take a turn, however, when the child begins using those powers to do evil and horrible things. In this extended look at a scene from the film, we see a waitress closing up a diner for the night when sudden and unexplained things begin happening. As the bulbs in the overhead lights shatter into thousands of pieces, one shard of glass gets stuck in her eye. From there, things get bloody and really terrifying. Check out the scene above, but don’t say we didn’t warn you! It’s intense.

From director David Yarovesky, Brightburn stars Elizabeth Banks, David Denman, Jackson A. Dunn, Matt Jones, and Meredith Hagner. The official synopsis for the film is below:

[row]“What if a child from another world crash-landed on Earth, but instead of becoming a hero to mankind, he proved to be something far more sinister?

With Brightburn, the visionary filmmaker of Guardians of the Galaxy and Slither presents a startling, subversive take on a radical new genre: superhero horror.”[/row]

The film was written by Mark and Brian Gunn. The film is produced by James Gunn and Kenneth Huang with Mark and Brian Gunn, Dan Clifton, Simon Hatt and Nic Crawley serving as executive producers.

Brightburn hits theaters Memorial Day weekend, May 24, 2019.
