‘West Wing’ Alum Bradley Whitford Joins ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ Season 2 in Recurring Role

The cast of Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale season 2 continues to impress!

It was announced on Thursday that Emmy winner Bradley Whitford has been added to the series in a major recurring role.  According to Deadline, Whitford will play Commander Joseph Lawrence, the architect of Gilead’s economy.  Commander Joseph Lawrence is described as, “gruff and intimidating, with a disheveled mad genius vibe. His sly humor and flashes of kindness make him a confusing, mysterious presence for his newest Handmaid.”

Best known for his role as Josh Lyman on The West Wing and seen most recently in the Oscar-nominated films Get Out and The Post, Whitford joins a stellar already-announced group of guest stars including Cherry Jones and Marisa Tomei.

Season two of The Handmaid’s Tale will enter uncharted territory for the characters.  In addition to focusing on Offred’s pregnancy, fans can expect to see some strides being made in the endless fight for freedom from Gilead.

The second season of The Handmaid’s Tale will be available for your streaming pleasure via Hulu on April 25, 2018!
