There’s a Wile E. Coyote Movie in the Works at Warner Bros.

Wile E. Coyote has been unsuccessfully trying to catch his arch-nemesis the roadrunner for decades. Try and try as he might, the roadrunner always seems to outsmart him, and poor Wile has the most unfortunate luck when it comes using his high-tech gadgets while trying to gain a competitive edge. All these years later, it’s looking like Wile E. Coyote may have a chance at redemption.

Warner Bros. has announced that they are developing a film based on the beloved coyote character. The project is currently being called Coyote Vs. Acme. If you’re familiar at all with the original Wile E Coyote and Roadrunner cartoons, you might remember “Acme” as the company which supplied Wile with all of his crazy traps and contraptions.

At this time, details surround the plot of the film are not known, however, we do know that Chris McKay (best known for his directing work on Lego Batman) is on board to produce. In addition to McKay, Jon and Josh Silberman (best known for their writing and producing work on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Living Biblically and Bordertown) will be penning the script. The film will be an animated movie as opposed to a live-action version which has become inherently popular these days.

Wile E. Coyote appeared in his first cartoon in 1949. Wile went on to star in 49 cartoon episodes during which he tried every which way possible to capture the Roadrunner. In addition to Wile and his cunningly speedy counterpart, other characters in the Warner Bros. universe include Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Elmer Fudd, Yosemite Sam, Foghorn Leghorn, and my personal favorite Marvin the Martian.
