Writers Guild Members Vote For Strike Authorization

The results from the strike authorization vote are in.

According to Variety, Writer Guild members have authorized a strike in the event an agreement can’t be reached by May 1.

The vote, which was extended to members of the Guild that have worked under the current contract between WGA and the AMPTP, ended with 96% of Guild members voting for the strike authorization. Over 6,300 ballots were cast up from the 5,507 ballots cast back in 2007.

Negotiations are set to continue Tuesday, April 25 and presumably run through May 1 which is the contract expiration date.
