‘Young Sheldon’ recap “Pongo Pygmaeus and a Culture that Encourages Spitting”

It’s Missy’s first baseball practice. It goes great, she handled herself very well when the boys were mean to her. George and coach Dale makeup after last episode’s dispute and agree to grab a beer. George agrees and as a bonus, it ticks off Meemaw.

Sheldon purchased a Modem from Radio Shack and immediately sends his work off to other scientists. They call his work flawed and Missy suggests he fights back, causing the first flame war.

Missy excitedly wears her baseball uniform to school, but the other girls pick on her, calling her a boy and refusing to sit with her at lunch. Missy rethinks joining the team. Billy’s mom, Brenda, calls Mary to “do her a favor” and ask her what she was thinking, letting Missy play a “boy’s” sport. Was one weird kid not enough? This upsets Mary and she refuses to let Missy quit the team.

It’s Missy’s first game and when the pitcher tries to hit her with the ball, she tackles him.

Georgie asks Veronica if it’s ok that he asks out another girl. After all, they are just friends, aren’t they? I guess we’ll see.

This episode was amazing! I am so proud of Missy! Overcoming the boy/girl hurdle at that age is tough. It was not necessary for Brenda to call Mary to ask her what she was thinking. I didn’t like her doing that but way to go Mary for not letting Missy give up her dream just because some girls were mean. It was also incredibly sweet how Missy asked Sheldon how he deals with bullies. I can’t wait to see how she grows throughout the seasons. I also can’t wait to dive back into the Georgie/Veronica story.
