Zack Snyder had a talk with IGN, and you read it right! He explained a bit why we saw the Robin suit in a glass case with ‘haha the joke is on you’ in green spray paint on the chest. We already know that the Joker is behind it. It’s still nice that he explained a bit of it!
“In my mind, it was that Robin had died 10 years earlier, during some run-in with a young Joker,” Snyder says to IGN. “So there was a fun backstory there to play with. I felt like the whole idea was that there had been loss and there had been sacrifice. In a weird way, he had sacrificed everything to be Batman. He doesn’t really have a life outside the cave. I thought that including Robin, a dead Robin, was helping us understand that he’s been on quite a little journey.”
It still doesn’t tell which of the Robin’s died, but it has an extra turn to it. Batman went to a very dark place with this death. The way he wants to go take it up against the man of steel, makes me see he doesn’t really trust on heroes.
Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice is out now in theatres! Have you seen it yet? We can discuss it together!
